Hollywood FL Halloween Events 2026: Boo Bash and Hollyweird

Downtown Hollywood is holding Halloween on two separate nights this year, with each night aimed at a different crowd. Friday, October 23 is Boo Bash, a free family evening at ArtsPark at Young Circle that ends with a movie. Saturday, October 24 is Hollyweird Halloween, a free block party on Hollywood Boulevard that runs until 2 a.m. The City lists a costume contest with $10,000 in prizes.

Those two nights close out a month with a downtown event on four weekends in a row, most of them free. The timing matters. This summer, the people who run businesses on these blocks told Axios they were losing customers to Dania Pointe. A city commissioner said the answer was more special events, free shuttles and better parking. October is the clearest test of that plan so far.

Friday Night Belongs to ArtsPark

Boo Bash runs from 5 to 9 p.m. at ArtsPark at Young Circle, 1 Young Circle. The City's listing describes it as an evening built for kids and lays out the schedule:

  1. 5 p.m. Music and kids' activities
  2. 7 p.m. Costume fashion show
  3. 8 p.m. Movie night

Admission is free, and food is for sale on site. Kids who dressed up for the fashion show can wear the same costume to school-week trick-or-treating the next week without getting much use out of it in between. Families who want a contest with prize money will find it the next night, on a different street, for a different crowd.

The Boo Bash listing also says this directly. It ends by pointing adults to Saturday's Hollyweird block party, so the City's own calendar presents the weekend as two nights for two audiences.

Saturday Moves Up Hollywood Boulevard

Hollyweird Halloween takes over Hollywood Boulevard between 19th and 20th Avenues, according to the festival's location page. The festival homepage promotes live music, drink specials and costume contests, with free admission. The City's event entry highlights the costume contest and its $10,000 prize pool.

Before you plan the evening, note two details where the sources disagree:

  • Start time. The City's Hollyweird entry and the festival homepage both list 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. The note on the City's Boo Bash page says the adult block party runs 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Check HollyweirdFestival.com closer to the date if arrival time matters, especially if you want to see the contest.
  • Who it's for. The festival homepage lists both adult and kids' costume contests. The City describes Hollyweird as a block party for adults and puts children's programming at Boo Bash the night before. With a 2 a.m. finish on the boulevard, Friday at ArtsPark is the more dependable choice for younger kids.

The festival site is also inviting vendor applications, though the application page still shows 2025 information.

Why Downtown Keeps Booking Free Nights

The two-night Halloween fits a pattern that goes back to July. That month, Axios Hollywood reported that downtown was "still waiting for its turnaround." Business owners blamed permitting delays, parking, thin foot traffic and rising rents for steady turnover on the blocks around Hollywood Boulevard. The story said Block 40 Food Hall, two years after opening, had already replaced some of its food vendors.

Mark Rowe owns Mickey Byrne's and is president of the downtown business association. He gave Axios a direct assessment:

"I've been here since 2008, and the last couple of years have been the hardest years that I've had since I've been in business."

Rowe told Axios that the new high-rises nearby had not yet brought more foot traffic, and that people were going to Dania Pointe, where parking is easier and free. He also said Mickey Byrne's has stayed a downtown fixture, and he credited two things for that: affordable prices and special events like Hollyweird.

Commissioner Peter Hernandez told Axios the city's longer-term hope is to close roads on weekends and host farmers' markets that bring in more locals. In the meantime, he said, the city is relying on free shuttles, special events and parking improvements. October's calendar shows that second approach at full scale.

Four Weekends of Downtown Programming

Downtown's October lineup has an event on four straight weekends, and the City lists three of them as free. ArtsPark hosts three of the events, and Hollywood Boulevard hosts the fourth.

Date Event Location Hours Admission
Sat., Oct. 10 Hispanic Heritage Festival ArtsPark at Young Circle 3–9 p.m. Not stated in City listing
Sat., Oct. 17 Revive Live Festival ArtsPark at Young Circle 5–10 p.m. Free
Fri., Oct. 23 Boo Bash ArtsPark at Young Circle 5–9 p.m. Free
Sat., Oct. 24 Hollyweird Halloween Hollywood Blvd., 19th to 20th Aves. 6 p.m.–2 a.m. per City listing Free

The Hispanic Heritage Festival comes first. The City is producing it with the Hispanic Affairs Council, Koffee Kult and La Casita Tropical, and the program includes live music, cultural performances, dance and a Parade of Nations. Koffee Kult and La Casita Tropical are local businesses, so this festival brings neighborhood names into the park.

Revive Live, the week after, promises live music, local food trucks and children's activities. The City lists it but notes that it is not the organizer.

October 17 Starts at the Beach and Ends Downtown

The busiest single day of the month is Saturday, October 17. The Hollywood Beach Half Marathon & 5K takes over the Broadwalk from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Revive Live opens at ArtsPark at 5 p.m. the same day. If you run the 5K in the morning, you'll have most of the afternoon free before the evening event.

Halloween reaches the beach too, at a smaller scale. Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort is running Halloween specials at 5 o'Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill from October 1 through 31. The menu includes themed food, sweets and cocktails. The resort's 2026 listing describes restaurant specials, not a public party. On October 31 itself, the City calendar shows the usual live music at Hollywood Beach Theatre from 7 to 9 p.m.

Parking for Both Halloween Nights

Business owners named parking as one of downtown's problems, so it's worth planning for. For Boo Bash, the City points drivers to two city-operated garages, both charging standard rates:

  • Radius Parking Garage, 250 N 19th Ave
  • Van Buren Garage, 251 S 20th Ave

Both garages sit on the 19th and 20th Avenue blocks where Hollyweird takes place, so the same two decks work for both nights. You can park once on Saturday and stay until the last costume is judged.

Construction at Garfield Garage began October 1. The City says the garage remains open, with some sections closed temporarily and only minimal effect on parking. The Sun Shuttle is another option for getting downtown. Since June 8, a pilot program has let Zone 1 riders travel to Hollywood Tri-Rail without transferring at City Hall.

A few October listings people might expect are missing. The pages we checked showed no October 2026 ArtWalk listing and no city-park trunk-or-treat. If either one is announced, it would join a month that already has four downtown events.
